Whatever type of helper you may be looking for, I first recommend checking out the other teachers of Waking Down in Mutuality listed at www.wakingdown.org. Many of them are trained in other forms of healing and counseling, such as Somatic Experiencing, Hakomi, psychotherapy, etc. Since the awakening process brings up needs for all kinds of support you may not find there, I'll start listing referrals on this page to people who have a relationship with our work, who I think are excellent at what they do, and whose work is very compatible with ours. All do work in person, and most can also offer sessions by phone. If you choose to work with any of them, please let them know that I referred you, and please feel free to email me any feedback you have about your experience with them.

Barbara Hastings, Enneagram Teacher and Counselor
The enneagram is a powerful tool for understanding your own "not self" strategies, why they were necessary for your survival, and how they are also keys to your gifts and your awakening. By exploring these deeply conditioned patterns in a non-judgmental way, you can distinguish them from who you are beneath your defenses. I find the enneagram to be an invaluable tool in the process of awakening and whole-Being healing. If you want help finding your type in the system, don't bother with any online tests; my experience is that they usually give wrong results. I find the best approach is the read at least two books more than once (including my favorite, Sandra Maitri's The Spiritual Dimension of the Enneagram), and get the help of an expert like Barbara.

Barbara was one of the first certified teachers of the Enneagram under Helen Palmer, and has been a teacher and counselor for over 20 years.
